Victoria has a comprehensive framework of courts, tribunals and consumer protection bodies for resolving civil debt disputes. VCAT's Civil Claims List is one of the most accessible small-claims venues in Australia, and the Magistrates Court of Victoria has broad civil jurisdiction. Consumer Affairs Victoria provides mediation and compliance services for consumer-related disputes.
Merion operates in Victoria on a commission-only basis, recovering commercial debts in accordance with the ACCC/ASIC Debt Collection Guideline and Victorian consumer law.
VCAT — Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal
VCAT's Civil Claims List handles disputes up to $100,000, making it the primary small-claims venue in Victoria. The Small Claims List (for amounts up to $15,000 as at the date of this page — check the VCAT website for current limits) is specifically designed for self-represented parties and is faster and less formal than the general Civil Claims List. Monetary thresholds are set by regulation and may change.

For debts above $100,000, matters proceed to the County Court of Victoria or the Supreme Court of Victoria.
