Credit Check
A review of a customer's financial standing, payment history and risk before extending credit or setting a limit.
How it works
A credit check assesses whether a prospective customer is likely to pay on time. It may draw on a commercial credit bureau report, ASIC searches, PPSR registrations, trade references and public court records. The result guides both the decision to supply and the size of any credit limit.
When to check
Run a check before onboarding and again when a customer requests a higher limit or starts paying slowly. A check is a snapshot, so revisit it periodically. Pair the result with your own ageing data, which you can monitor through the Merion business tools.
