Invoice

A document issued by a supplier requesting payment for goods or services, showing amounts, GST and the date due.

What it is

An invoice is the formal request for payment that follows a sale. It records what was supplied, the price, any GST, the payment terms, and the due date. A correctly drawn invoice is the starting document for collections and, if needed, for any later recovery action.

Getting it right

In Australia a tax invoice must carry specific details, including the seller's identity, ABN, a GST statement and the issue date. Errors give customers an excuse to delay, so accuracy speeds payment. Generate compliant tax invoices through Merion invoicing to avoid common mistakes.
