Credit Controller
The person responsible for managing a business's receivables, from approving accounts to chasing overdue payments.
The role
A credit controller owns the day-to-day health of the sales ledger. Duties include onboarding new accounts, setting and reviewing credit limits, sending statements, chasing overdue invoices, and escalating accounts that fall too far behind. The role sits at the meeting point of sales, finance and customer service.
What good looks like
A strong credit controller keeps days sales outstanding low without alienating good customers, and knows when persuasion has run its course. Clear records and consistent follow-up are everything. Live ledger and ageing data through Merion invoicing make the job far easier.
